Testing Technology

I’m testing out a new thing today. I’ve borrowed a friend’s Surface, and I’m using it to type this blog. I’m used to real keys and a larger keyboard. I’m having a hard time with the space bar and the keys I hit with my ring fingers. I really like the portability though.

I like to use DropBox for storing my work. It was fairly easy to find and download the app – though it’s not the full version. Once we got it downloaded it’s not as user friendly as the full version. It took a bit for my friend to help me figure out that you can’t save something directly in the DropBox App. You have to save it to the device first, then upload it to the app. I bit tedious, but do-able for the portability.

What are your favorite writing tools, and why? What devices, apps, utensils, spaces, methods, music, coffee, atmospheres, are most important to your creativity/productivity?

So many want “fire insurance”. “Sure I don’t wanna go to hell, but don’t make me change my life. I like doin’ this stuff.”

You can’t have a little Jesus, like you’re adding salt to your favorite meal. He’s ALL or NOTHING!!! You can’t have a Savior without a LORD. As I explained to my kids, He’s gotta be the “boss” of your life if you’re gonna have a relationship with Him.

JESUS DIED to pay for your sins, so you don’t have to pay for them yourself by going to HELL when you die. He has your best interests at heart, I think He proved that by dying for us all while we were still sinners. He’s CRAZY about you and wants you to feel the same way about Him.

Francis Chan said, “If your momma don’t know that you’re saved, then your not.” Don’t put this off. You’re not promised your next breath, much less tomorrow. You’re gonna spend eternity somewhere. It’s your choice where. What’s it gonna be Heaven or HELL? If you choose to not choose, you’re choosing HELL.

Jesus died for you. You want a savior? Then accept what He did to pay for your sins, ask for forgiveness, and ask Him to take over and be LORD of your life. Join a local Bible believing, Bible teaching church and learn all you can about the ONE WHO loves you so much that HE died for you.

Go back and look at Yesterday’s Blog post for more information on SALVATION

From Victim to Survivor to OVERCOMER 07-12-2011

Repost from previous blog: Posted 07/12/2011

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have to get out of “VICTIM” mode.  It can only lead to defeat – weighed down, burdened, depressed, and in constant fear.  I can say “we”, because I lived it for so long.  I learned it growing up, and in recent years have learned a new name for it – “ENTITLEMENT” mentality – i.e. “the world owes me something! – AND IT BETTER PAY UP!” or “I DESERVE BETTER THAN THIS!” And in the past few years I’ve learned, I deserve NOTHING except DEATH and HELL.
When I got Saved at age twenty, I had begun to learn to live as a SURVIVOR.  But that was just it, I was just surviving, just getting by, mediocre, enduring.  But many days would default back to Entitlement.  I soon learned, and am still learning that as Christians we are never called to just exist and endure.  I can’t say it’s something that comes naturally.  I still fall back in the victim and survivor modes, more often than I’d like to admit.
We are called to be OVERCOMERS – Victorious.  Powerful not pitiful.  We can’t be both at the same time.  We are either one or the other.  AND when we are being pitiful, there’s no way for GOD’s POWER to do it’s perfect work in us.  Yes with God ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.  But we have to keep this in context.  When we are being pitiful, we are NOT Trusting/Believing God.  The whole verse says, “23
Jesus said,”33These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
John wrote, “4  5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” (I John 5:4-5)
He also wrote, “3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.  4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them.” (I John 4:3-5)
If you are Saved, you are a child of the KING of KINGs, and HE has already defeated the law of sin and death. (Romans 8)  Don’t live a defeated life any longer.  Stand up and live the life that HE died to give you.
If you don’t know what I mean by Saved, or you do and wanna be.  Let me explain further.
-* Jesus (God in the Flesh – or God with skin on, if you will) was born of a virgin
-* He lived a sinless life.
-* Then was crucified on the cross to die and pay for your sins and mine
-* He died for our sins because we couldn’t pay for our own, the sacrifice had to be INNOCENT,
-* And Jesus was the only one INNOCENT that coul pay the price for all
-* So something/someone had to die because the LAW of sin and death says, “22
-* So Jesus died on the cross, but HE rose on the third day.  Jesus said, “17  18 No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”  (John 10:17-18)  Remember He is all God while at the same time all man.  I know it’s hard to grasp, but we are not called to understand everything, just believe to HIM.
-* SALVATION comes by believing WHO Jesus is and WHAT He did for you.
-* If you do, and would like to be saved, pray and ask Him to forgive your sins, come into your heart, and be your LORD and SAVIOR (You can’t have one without the other – my FIRE INSURANCE Blog will post tomorrow, also go back and read the one from yesterday YOU CAN’T JUST ADD A LITTLE GOD TO YOUR LIFE).
-* If you don’t know how to pray, it’s just like talking to someone.  If you don’t know what to say, say something like this, “God, I know I’m a sinner.  Please forgive me.  Come into my heart and life and be my LORD and Savior.  I surrender my life to YOU.”  – The only catch is you have to mean it.  There’s nothing magical about these words or the way you say it; it’s what you mean that matters.
I Wanna Be Buried with My Fork TOOOOOO!!!!! 07-11-2011
This it not my words; I received it in an email. I thought it too sweet not to share.
Mine’ll be in my left hand. 😀
emailed to me: 01/03/2010
Woman and a Fork
There was a young woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and had been given three months to live. So as she was getting her things ‘in order,’ she contacted her Pastor and had him come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes.
She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service, what scriptures she would like read, and what outfit she wanted to be buried in.
Everything was in order and the Pastor was preparing to leave when the young woman suddenly remembered something very important to her.
‘There’s one more thing,’ she said excitedly …
‘What’s that?’ came the Pastor’s reply.
‘This is very important,’ the young woman continued. ‘I want to be buried with a fork in my right hand.’
The Pastor stood looking at the young woman, not knowing quite what to say.
That surprises you, doesn’t it?’ the young woman asked.
‘Well, to be honest, I’m puzzled by the request,’ said the Pastor.
The young woman explained. ‘My grandmother once told me this story, and from that time on I have always tried to pass along its message to those I love and those who are in need of encouragement. In all my years of attending socials and dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main course were being cleared, someone would inevitably lean over and say, ‘Keep your fork.’ It was my favorite part because I knew that something better was coming … like velvety chocolate cake or deep-dish apple pie. Something wonderful, and with substance!’
So, I just want people to see me there in that casket with a fork in
my hand and I want them to wonder ‘What’s with the fork?’ Then I want you to tell them: ‘Keep your fork … the best is yet to come.’
The Pastor’s eyes welled up with tears of joy as he hugged the young woman good-bye. He knew this would be one of the last times he would see her before her death. But he also knew that the young woman had a better grasp of heaven than he did. She had a better grasp of what heaven would be like than many people twice her age, with twice as much experience and knowledge. She KNEW that something better was coming.
At the funeral people were walking by the young woman’s casket and they saw the cloak she was wearing and the fork placed in her right hand … Over and over, the Pastor heard the question, ‘What’s with the fork?’ And over and over he smiled …
During his message, the Pastor told the people of the conversation he had with the young woman shortly before she died. He also told them about the fork and about what it symbolized to her. He told the people how he could not stop thinking about the fork and told them that they probably would not be able to stop thinking about it either.
He was right. So the next time you reach down for your fork let it remind you, ever so gently, that the best is yet to come.
And just remember … keep your fork !
You Can’t Just Add a Little Bit of God to Your Life 07-10-2011
I will be slowly but surely reposting/transferring my previous posts from my old blog to this one.  I will be in between doing some new posts as well. Please bear with me.
07/10/11 Post
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Also, prev. posted in my FB notes by Angie Fleener Walthall on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at 8:20pm

Some additional notes have been added here.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After reading the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan, my whole idea of the Christian life was turned upside down. I have since then been on a quest to down-size and simplify my life in order to focus on the ONE important thing in my life – obeying God in all things – the rest will find its place.
I haven’t yet had the opportunity to read Forgotten God, also by Francis Chan, but I ran across this quote that really struck a chord with what I desire to be – totally and completely sold out to the God of the Universe.
“Nowhere in Scripture do I see a “balanced life with a little bit of God added in” as an ideal for us to immulate. Yet when I look at our churches, this is exactly what I see: a lot of people who have added Jesus to their lives. People who have, in a sense, asked Him to join them on ‘their’ life journey, to follow ‘them’ wherever… ‘they’ feel they should go, rather than following Him as we are commanded. The God of the universe is not something we can just add to our lives and keep on as we did before. The Spirit who raised Christ from the dead is not someone we can just call on when we want a little extra power in our lives. Jesus Christ did not die in order to follow ‘us’. He died and rose again so that we could forget everything else and follow him to the cross, to true Life.”
– Francis Chan from his book Forgotten God
